5 Incredible Things to do on a Date in Cape Town for £100

May 12, 2016

While working from my nearest caffeine  fix establishment surrounded by the bustle of ‘breakfast date before work’ patrons I overheard a conversation between a 30-something ex-pat living and working in London and his breakfast companion.

The gentleman relayed how he had taken a lady out for a date in London. They went to a mediocre establishment and ordered: a bottle of wine, 2 cocktails and some tapas (basically snack foods). He paid a total of £ 100 for the meal (R 2200 at the time of writing this) and confessed that he had to grab some Mc Ds on his way home from the date because he was so hungry.

Because I cannot resist the cold hard honesty of numbers…

Here are 5 amazing dates you could have in the Mother City for £100 that will definitely not end with you sitting alone at a Mc Donalds.

1. The Traditional Tourist

You could go up Table Mountain, visit the Aquarium and enjoy a full three course meal at Harbour House Restaurant at the V&A Waterfront, include your Uber trips to each place (assuming your hotel is based city bowl or surrounds). When the sun begins to set, you could head out for cocktails and tapas on the famous Camps Bay strip.

2. The Foodie

If its culinary excellence you are after, you could take your significant other out for dinner to the world-renowned Dining establishment The Test Kitchenwhere you will be able to enjoy a 10 course testing menu with an option to pair with either wine or TWG tea.

3. The Sensual

You could spend half a day at Mangwanani Spa and receive a spa package including: Full body, African head and foot massages, for two people, in absolute sensory pleasure and luxury.

4. The Jeb Corliss

This one is inspired by my husband, who surprised me with this, a few years ago. Head to Skydive Robertson for a Static line Sky diving Course, including a first jump (done solo, with a static line) from 3500ft in the air. Both unnerving and invigorating, this date will not be easily forgotten.

5. The Rockstar

If its a night out on the town you are after, book a VIP Cocktail table at Cape Town’s Era Nightclub. You will receive a bottle of French Champaign, VIP Entrance, Table Service and complimentary coat check. With enough money left over for a full hangover cure breakfast at Clarke’s on Bree Street, the next day.
